The summer food issue (August 2009) of Print is now on newsstands. Cravings was featured in this issue’s “Dialogue”, in which Steven Heller and I chat about Cravings and a little food porn. I was surprised to find myself saying the following but it came so naturally: “I often find my descriptions of dining experiences to be rather sexual — not in an explicit way, but just enough to titillate.” What can I say? We’re so excited!
Other articles I found particularly interesting were “Bottle Rockets” that showcases The Grateful Palate designer wine labels; “The Joy of Cookbooks” that highlights Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks’ vast collection on West 10th Street in New York City; and “Happy Boy and His Ageless Gang,” which explains legacy style package design — staying true to a product’s original package design over time — the appeal of nostalgia and kitsch, and why Arnell Group’s redesign of the Tropicana logo didn’t work.
