Menu for Hope 4

by Celia Sin-Tien Cheng
December 9, 2007

Cravings is participating in this year’s Menu for Hope!

As part of the Menu for Hope raffle, you can bid on our prize, a Cravings Event voucher for 2 (for 2 people at 1 event in 2008 — value up to $200). Prize Code: UE15

As you may know, the Cheng Sisters started Cravings Events so that rather than just reading about mouth-watering good eats, you can go straight to the source to experience delicious creations and meet the masters behind New York’s diverse gastronomic scene. For handmade hors d’oeuvres, Chinese banquets, shochu tastings, chocolate and champagne pairings and more, we invite everyone to come join us for a Cravings Event and indulge in decadent foods and meet chefs, experts, the Cheng Sisters and other food lovers just like you!

Or bid on other fantastic prizes — all for a great cause!

What is Menu for Hope?

Menu for Hope is an annual fund raising campaign organized by Pim Techamuanvivit of Chez Pim. Five years ago, the devastating tsunami in Southeast Asia inspired Pim to find a way to help — Menu for Hope. Since then, the campaign has become an annual affair, raising funds to support worthy causes worldwide. Last year, Menu for Hope raised US$62,925 to help the UN World Food Programme feed the hungry.

This year the campaign runs from December 10 to 21, 2007. The beneficiary is once again the UN World Food Programme. Food bloggers from all over the world join the campaign by offering a delectable array of food-related prizes for the Menu for Hope raffle.

Anyone can buy raffle tickets to bid on these prizes. For every $10 donated, entrants earn one virtual raffle ticket to bid on a prize of their choice. At the end of the two-week campaign, the raffle tickets are drawn and the results announced on Chez Pim.

Interested in buying into the raffle? Here’s what you need to do:

1. Choose a prize or prizes of your choice from our Menu for Hope.

2. Go to the First Giving donation site and make a donation.

3. Please specify which prize you’d like in the ‘Personal Message’ section in the donation form when confirming your donation. You must write-in how many tickets per prize, and please use the prize code. Example:

Each $10 you donate will give you one raffle ticket toward a prize of your choice. For example, a donation of $50 can be 2 tickets for EU01 and 3 tickets for EU02. Please write 2xEU01, 3xEU02. Example:

4. If your company matches your charity donation, please check the box and fill in the information so we could claim the corporate match.

Check back on Chez Pim on Wednesday, January 9 for the results of the raffle.

Thanks for your participation, and good luck in the raffle!
