UNICEF’s Tap Project, an initiative to help provide safe drinking water for children around the world, returns for the fourth year.

During World Water Week 2010 (March 21-27), participating restaurants will invite patrons to donate $1 or more for the tap water they usually enjoy for free. The Tap Project launch party will take place on March 18th at The Gates.

Click here for a list of participating New York restaurants. Online donations can also be made here.

Since its inception in 2007, the UNICEF Tap Project has raised nearly $1.5 million in the U.S. to help provide clean water to millions of children around the world. This year’s funds will primarily support Haiti, Central African Republic, Guatemala, Togo and Vietnam.

Dine out next week and do your part so those less fortunate can also have the chance to enjoy clean water!
