Fish and chips at Le Caprice is a copious, delicious treat. Served over “mushy peas,” a large thickly breaded piece of cod is accompanied by fries, tartar sauce, ketchup and vinegar. The French fries are handsomely cut, and taste just as good dipped in Ketchup as they do doused in vinegar. There’s tanginess from all sides: the fresh squeeze of lemon, the pickles in the tartar sauce, the straight vinegar and the ketchup. They all compliment both the fried fish and the potatoes. Le Carprice’s fish and chips is an elegant presentation of a commoner’s meal.
