I love Brazilian beef stroganoff because it’s a mixture of beef, mushrooms, cream and red sauce — there’s cream in addition to the tomato base — and is accompanied by rice instead of noodles. The thin potato strips, like shoestring fries, that accompany it makes the dish a bit more light-hearted and fun. At Casa, don’t forget to add some homemade hot sauce (my favorite, a green sauce made with jalapenos, cilantro, oil, vinegar, garlic and salt) to spice things up. After a couple of caipirinhas and a stroganoff at this charming West Village restaurant, I’m happy as a clam!

Also in Beef, Brazilian, West Village

I have a pot of Brazilian Beef Stroganoff simmering on the stove. I got the recipe from an old co-worker’s wife who is from and now lives in Brazil. Your description of the dish fits the ingredients I placed in this dish. I’m happy to see that this is an authentic Brazilian dish.

I made this and here is my recipe. It was fantastic!!!!

BEEF STROGANOFF—Brazilian Style—-Joanne

1 (left over) Peppered Dry Cooked Roast (cut into small cubes)
1 Tomato, very very large, chop into big hunks
1 T. Onion Flakes
2 t. Garlic Flakes
1 t. Crushed Rosemary
2 t. Dried Parsley
4 Sprigs of chopped Cilantro
2 T. Paprika
1 Can Golden Mushroom Soup
1 Can Chicken Broth
3 T. Sugar
¾ C. Sour Cream
½ stick Margarine
3 T. Olive Oil
3 T. Catsup

Season to taste:
Seasoning Salt
Coarse Ground Pepper
Cayenne ( like mine hot)

Optional: 4 T. Fiber Sure (as a diabetic this works for me)

For a neat crunch top each dish with Shoestring French Fried canned Potatoes

Allow your Stroganoff to render down to a creamy consistency before serving. (2 hours on med- stir often).

Serve over cumin-rice.

(Cook rice in ample amount of salt, olive oil and 4 T. Cumin)

Serve with a green salad. Mucho good.
