The daal makhani at Junoon is the one dish that Chef Vikas Khanna says he eats every night. “It’s my legacy,” he explains. This was the first recipe that his grandmother taught him. Maybe it’s that added love that makes this daal so special. Along with cream, butter and spices, the daal makhani consists of five different types of black lentils. It also stands out from others because it takes less butter than traditional daals. So it’s not heavy, letting the flavors speak for themselves. It’s like a perfect vegetarian chili. While there are so many eye-openingly delicious dishes at Junoon, the daal makhani with rice is truly bewitching.
