Chestnut is the perfect wintry dessert ingredient, and Basta Pasta hits it home with their seasonal millecrepe — chestnut — though it’s so popular it may stay on the menu through the spring. The “thousand-layer crepes” are filled with layers of chestnut cream. I love the smooth, rich flavor of the chestnut cream laced with brandy and the grittiness of the pulverized chestnut that warms and sweetens the palate. Served on a cocoa-powder-dusted plate with vanilla gelato, my meal couldn’t have ended on a more satisfactory note.
