Havana Pies serves Cuban-style empanadas, which are deep fried rather than baked. What’s great about these empanadas are really the fillings. The wild mushroom and spinach is by far the tastiest on the menu, and I am no vegetarian. Maybe it’s the simplicity of the two ingredients that don’t have to rely on extra spice or flavoring to just taste great together.
A bite into the crispy empanada shell reveals the spinach and mushrooms that have been marinating in their own juices. It’s so tasty that while the juices are running down your hands, you want to lick the trails to make sure you get every last bit’s worth.
