While still in medical school, Paul Chiu started taking photos with an SLR camera. When the events of September 11th urged him to start documenting the life around him, he launched paulchiu.com. I am mesmerized by his images, which range from a series of wild black-and-white seascape expanses taken in Baja Malibu, Mexico to the serene images of elephants at the Tarangire National Park in Tanzania (see above photo). What I truly admire about Chiu’s work is the diverse styles and subject matter. While browsing the site, don’t miss his animated shorts like “The Passage” accompanied by the beats of Zorba the Greek.
