Martine's Chocolate Love Letters

by Celia Sin-Tien Cheng
February 5, 2009

This month’s winners are Michael and Xtoff. Congratulations!

Below is the original Baking Friday post.

Q: WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE FROM YOUR VALENTINE?

Scroll down to enter a comment, and click “submit” after the preview appears on screen. Send in your answer by midnight tomorrow and you will automatically be entered for the chance to win a XOXO love letters ($12.95) and a box of four banana mousse truffles ($10.75). Winners will be contacted via email. This Baking Friday is limited to participants living in the Tri-State area (NY, NJ and CT).

Send your valentine a message with Martine’s Chocolates love letters in dark, milk or white chocolate. Belgian chocolate letters and symbols, wrapped in clear cellophane like in the photo above, can be assembled into romantic messages, or you can have a custom message handwritten in boxed chocolates, a bar, or a chocolate Valentine’s card. Customization is free but must be requested by Tuesday, February 10, 2009.

And there’s more! Martine has launched a new banana mousse truffle, and the handmade, creamy banana filling and its sweet fruity aroma are just brilliant.

From now through Valentine’s Day, Martine’s Chocolates is offering a free download of “My Funny Valentine” from jazz star Jacqui Naylor’s new album, You Don’t Know Jacq, with every purchase while supplies last. “My Funny Valentine” is an example of the artist’s critically acclaimed “acoustic smashing” technique. Here she sings the Valentine’s standard to her band’s rendition of the AC/DC rock anthem “Back in Black.”

If you’re going to send chocolates to your valentine, then do it right with Martine’s artisanal chocolates.

Thank you, Martine, for this week’s Baking Friday contribution!

One of those green and yellow frogs with a giant heart that says “I LUV U”.

But, more seriously, I like to think of everyday as Valentine’s Day and every moment we have together as special.

I’d love a yummy sushi dinner, especially uni with quail egg on top.

A Mont Blanc Star Large Automatic
36 mm stainless steel watch with silver dial, automatic movement, date display, stainless steel case back, black alligator strap with triple folding clasp and she knows it!!!

Should this be food related?

I guess a nice dinner at nougatine will do the trick, the gazpacho is to die for.

Something modest and personal, the sort of object that is by most accounts banal but is imbued with a sentimental meaning shared only between the two of us. These are the best gifts, and the hardest to find. Sadly, my wife doesn’t care about Valentine’s Day at all and is dismissive of romance in general.

We don’t really do Valentine’s Day but I always thought it would be nice to have a tasting style dinner with all the aphrodisiacs. Raw oysters, something made with saffron (Moroccan chicken pie), great wine, bits of chocolate. I think just spending time in the kitchen making an odd meal together would be perfect.
