Scroll down below to enter a comment. Make sure to click on “submit” after the preview appears on screen. Send in your answer by 5pm today and you will automatically be entered into the drawing to win a sweetriot Lovers Pack — a variety pack of three tins: Flavor 50, Flavor 65, and Flavor 70.
Winners will be contacted via email and can pick up the prizes at Amai Tea & Bake House (171 3rd Avenue), including three Tea Sweets of choice.
It’s the beginning of a new year! To start 2008 off right, we wanted to introduce to you sweetriot! Made with all natural ingredients, sweetriot’s “peaces” — little nibs of roasted cacao bean, covered in dark chocolate — come in handy little tins that are perfect for carrying anywhere with you. Rather than sticking a chocolate bar in your purse and fear that it may melt, or that you’ll overeat, these cacao nibs are convenient, neat and absolutely delicious!
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, this week’s prize, sweetriot’s Lovers Pack makes a great V-day gift. The Lovers Pack is a variety pack of three tins: flavor 50, Flavor 65, and Flavor 70. Make sure your loved one is always stocked with something a little sweet!
You can buy sweetriot goods online or check here for a list of retailers.
Thank you, sweetriot, for this week’s Baking Friday contribution!

When I need a little boost of energy I walk a block to Spoon (on 20th). They have miniaturized muffings, scones, and pain au chocolat. One of those and a cup of tea and I’m back in business!

If I’m totally run down from lack of fuel, I go for a packet or handful of nuts, usually raw almonds. Seems to do the trick. I’d like to think that dark chocolate does the same, but I’m not sure it does, for me… But often I’ll eat it anyway! :-)

A simple teaspoon of the finest Canadian maple syrup from a farm in southern Ontario. The energy burst trails off very gradually ….

I soak coca leaves in Red Bull for about three hours and then chew on the leaves for 15 minutes. Amazing rush!!

Nuts and dried cranberies. Or, if we can consider a beverage eating, anything with expresso in it or a tall glass of water. Wakes you up for sure.

A handful of nuts or chunk of cheese does it for me.

I always try to keep a pack of PeeledSnacks at my desk (the plu-what? is my fave). At home, I hide (from myself) hershey kisses or mini reeses in the fridge or freezer. Just one will make me happy.

A banana, dark chocolate or PeeledSnack. Or yogurt – that can really hit the spot!

Pick me up: It’s a package of the spice of life that gets me “picked up”. I think we can all take a spoon full of life and get that much desired pick me up? A hot cocktail (rum toddy from the Flatiron Louge) isn’t a bad second place pick me up either.

I like to go the Kefir route. I’ll chug a glass (pomegranate is the flavor du jour), and then I usually feel great! mmmm nice-n-tangy!
Jan 18, 11:23 AM
I like a handful of chocolate-covered espresso beans for a little zing in the middle of the day, especially after lunch, when I seem to need it most. And with a steamy cup of chai tea, I’ll be ready for anything!
