Jiu Cai (Garlic Chives)
Jiu Cai is a wonderful staple in the Chinese/Taiwanese diet. These garlic chives are available year-round, and not as pungent as the one’s I here in New York’s farmers market in the summer. In Japanese it’s called nira and one of my favorite Japanese dishes is nira with liver, which you can find at most izakaya.
