Williamsburg’s newest seafood shack is also a mescal and tequila bar. Cynthia and I love hanging out at the bar, eating tacos and tasting through the long list of tequilas. Our favorite taco is the white bit, with spicy crispy smelt, guacamole and chipotle cabbage. The smelt is deep-fried in a batter laced with tajin, the Mexican seasoning made from dehydrated lime peel, cayenne pepper and salt (and frequently used to salt the rim of certain cocktail glasses). The taco is a nice snack, with the perfect blend of crispiness, creaminess from the guacamole, and sweet-spiciness from the classic chipotle mayonnaise slaw.
