A tomato sandwich I had at the local prepared food store, Breadzilla. I made my version today with brioche bread from Eli’s (available at Whole Foods) that I toasted. I spread it with mayonnaise and topped it with fresh heirloom tomatoes I had picked up at the famers’ market in Union Square this weekend. Then I sprinkled on sea salt and ground pepper. That’s it. You’d think you’d miss bacon and lettuce, but try it and you’ll see that this sandwich can stand up to a BLT!
