I was born with a savory tooth. Sweet and seductive desserts do very little for me while I pine for all things savory. This goes, of course, for pies as well. A buttery crust filled with some salty custard or, perhaps, sausage? I get weak in the knees. The savory tart at Bakeri is like a quiche but with more vegetable fillings than custard. The tart changes daily according to what’s in season and the daily whims of the baker. I often have one filled with goodness like cherry tomatoes, eggplant, mushrooms, leeks, parsley, curry powder, red peppers and feta cheese ($4 per slice). A cortado is the perfect pairing to go with this savory tart.
