I have a savory tooth, and my breakfast choice usually reflects this. One morning last week in Notting Hill, I went to scope out the selection at the local pastry shops. Nothing sweet at Gail’s spoke to me, but I was intrigued by the sausage roll (£3.40), though feared it would be rather dense and heavy. To my delight, it was just the opposite. The sausage was light, sweet, and moist, while the puff pastry crusty. I might add that the latte there was a real winner, too. I say this since I had more lattes in the neighborhood that week, and I often longed for the one at Gail’s.
