Attention New York City travelers: JFK’s Terminal 4 has been under renovation and is the new home of Delta Air Lines. The best part of this upgrade? Believe it or not, it’s the food. When it opens at the end of May, Terminal 4 will become a destination in itself, with offerings including Marcus Samuelsson’s Uptown Brasserie and Street Food, Danny Meyer’s Shake Shack and Blue Smoke, and Nancy Silverton’s La Brea Bakery. In the meantime, Delta has opened a fun pop-up space in SoHo called T4X to simulate the new Terminal 4 experience. By “checking in” at a priority check-in terminal, visitors can win tickets to Yankee games or Delta travel goodies. During lunchtime (Tuesday through Sunday, from noon to 2 p.m.), pick up a suitcase lunch box featuring one of many international destination-inspired sandwiches or salads for $4, like the San Juan pulled pork sandwich or the Tel Aviv wheat berry and lentil salad. I fell in love with the Mexico City carne asada sandwich with avocado and chipotle cream. Take the lunch box to go or enjoy it in the second floor Sky Club lounge. The pop-up is open now through May 22.
