Macarons

Celia Sin-Tien Cheng

The classic macaron house Ladurée finally opened its first U.S. store in New York last fall. American fans went wild, no longer having to travel to Paris to enjoy the French treats, but just endure a short wait in line at the Upper East Side boutique. To spice things up, Ladurée introduces seasonal flavors and specialty boxes to celebrate holidays or special collaborations — most recently a Tsumori Chisato custom box with cherry blossom macarons, both outstanding. For Easter, the “fleurs de clochettes” collector’s box, celebrating 150 years of this macaron house, is beautifully adorned with intertwining bellflowers and ribbon. Special Easter flavors include chocolate-banana and chocolate-kalamansi.
