I didn’t see lentil soup on the menu, but I am thankful that co-owner of Lakruwana, Jayantha Wijesinghe, recommended his wife’s signature soup. Sweet coconut milk and spices with puréed red legumes turn goldenrod in color. A bowl of absolute perfection, it is creamy with a little grittiness of lentils in the texture, which I particularly enjoyed. This soup is a hard act to follow, but Lakruwana’s menu of Sri Lankan dishes does not disappoint.
