The Comeback House: Champagne Leclerc Briant
It is rare to see a champagne house you have vaguely heard of make such a stunning comeback. This is the story of Champagne Leclerc Briant, which has been around since 1872. With new owners and a management team leading the house since 2012, this biodynamic winery is overdelivering in every aspect you can imagine. It was a coup de coeur at first taste for me. From the initial sip of the wines, you can discern the care and attention paid to the grapes and then the meticulous decisions and crafting of the winemaker. Pure, focused, nuanced and complex wines of tremendous quality. Don’t miss their single-vineyard “Les Chèvres Pierreuses” from Cumières; you will never forgive yourself if you do!
