Rosewood Mayakoba

Hotel

Celia Sin-Tien Cheng

The Rosewood Mayakoba is a luxury retreat with a capital L. Located on the white sand beaches of the Riviera Maya in Mexico, it’s an oasis so blissfully far away from the chaos of the Cancun airport or New York City that one can’t help but relax and settle into a routine of self-indulgence.

Rosewood Mayakoba is at the heart of a 1,600-acre resort enclave, with suites located either beachfront or on clear lagoons. Each suite features a private plunge pool, outdoor garden shower and rooftop deck; I was tickled when my butler told me there was a rooftop “solarium” in the suite.

The suites are capacious, and getting around the large resort also takes some time. Conveniently, there are little golf-cart escorts running around the resort to give you a lift, if you so desire.

With three pools, a championship golf course, two tennis courts and a spa, there are lots of activities to choose from. But my favorite attraction is the Agave Azul Raw Bar & Tequila Library, which has an unparalleled tequila menu and serves ceviche and cocktails. After a day by the beach, this is where you can start your evening off right.
