Fog Linen Work

Celia Sin-Tien Cheng

I’m a big fan of Yumiko Sekine’s Fog Linen Work. The classic and simple designs and wonderfully soft textures of the linen products are perfect for those with a modernist sensibility. Fog Linen Work is based in Japan, though most of the goods are produced in Lithuania where flax is grown. I often find Fog products at houseware boutiques around the world, but the only actual Fog store is located in Tokyo. Those of us in the United States can rejoice because the recent launch of the website Shop Fog Linen gives us access to a vast selection of Fog products. All the apron styles, from garçon to café and daily, are so simple yet stylish that I want to add them as accessories to my kitchen. I use the linen coated trays as coasters or plates; their mix-and-match patterns all play well together. The collection extends to bed and bath linens, apparel, accessories, children’s goods and even tape. With just one Mother’s Day gift, you’ll introduce Mom to the wide world of Fog.
