Los Antojos is a true hole in the wall. The majority of its clientele are local Mexicans; however, its reputation has spread so far and wide that plenty of gringos (count me as one, too, in this case) make it a destination. The roundtrip cab fare from the Strip ends up being more expensive than the meal, but it’s worth it. From tacos to enchiladas mole to huaraches, you can satisfy all your Mexican cravings (los antojos means “the cravings”) here, but the standout is definitely Los Antojos’ consommé loco. Every table in the place ordered at least one bowl of this downright delicious chicken soup. The refreshing clear broth, with shredded chicken, rice, avocado, lime juice and cilantro is like a magic potion — just a sip is enough to breathe life into you. You can taste the soul of this family-run operation in its incredible from-scratch cooking.
