The Red Hook Lobster Pound serves two styles of lobster rolls: Maine, the ubiquitous mayo-based lobster salad roll that is sold at many restaurants around town, and Connecticut, with lobster slathered in butter, served on a J.J. Nissen split-top hot dog bun and topped with paprika and scallions. Both are delicious, but when the lobster and bun soak up that warm butter of the Connecticut-style, it’s simply hard to resist. It’s a real treat to see the actual “pound,” or tank, that holds all of these lobsters-in-waiting at the front of the store.
