This cozy Greenwich Village restaurant has been highlighting local New York products for 15 years now. Chef John Cordova’s recent arrival has brought his surefire touch with seafood (a skill picked up during stints at Le Bernardin and Millesime) and new dishes such as his artichoke and ham cheesecake. It really is a savory cheesecake, creamy and paté-like in texture. A toasted breadcrumb, Asiago cheese and thyme crust is topped with a cream cheese and egg filling, made savory with the addition of puréed ham, artichoke, shallots and garlic. Each wedge emerges from a pass under the broiler with a satisfyingly crunchy top, its richness offset with a dollop of tomato and caper relish. Paired with a seat in Home’s back garden and a glass Shinn Estate sauvignon blanc (made on Long Island’s North Fork by former Home owners Barbara Shinn and David Page), it’s the perfect summer repast.
