You can’t visit Mexico City and not check out the Frida Kahlo Museum. It’s about 30 minutes from the city center, in the neighborhood of Coyoacán (not far from the Leon Trotsky House Museum). The distinctive cobalt-blue house is where Frida Kahlo was born and died. Seeing her living quarters along with her artwork gave me a brand new appreciation for this strong-willed artist who suffered much physical trauma through her life. I always found her art a little grotesque and confrontational, but in visiting the house I could feel her strength and determination in every little nook. It’s a truly invigorating experience.
