Cape May is a nice getaway from New York City, but never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would find the world’s best French toast here. Thick slices of brioche are dipped in a rich batter of cream, eggs, fresh orange juice & almonds, and the fragrance of the ingredients was so distinct and powerful, it lingers on my palette even a year later. When I think of The Mad Batter’s almond French toast, I can taste it in my memory — it made that strong of an impression. I had to return to The Mad Batter for these two days in a row. It was the most precious find on my trip.
