The Grand Hyatt in Kauai is not a small hotel — the property spans 52 acres. When you enter the lobby, you are greeted by this spectacularly picturesque ocean view. Walking to the bar, you’ll pass the lobby garden where four parrots are stationed during the day. The bar’s lounge chairs all face this view. There’s no better way to enjoy happy hour!

The resort is large and doesn’t feel very personal, but if you head to the pool or the beach, the ocean breeze will blow away any worry or woe.

Dondero’s, the Italian fine dining restaurant, is not only the best choice on the property, but also one of the top restaurants on the island. I returned days in a row because I just couldn’t get enough of the delicious risottos and pastas.
