A breakfast thali of beef keema, steel cut oats, potato curry, house made saffron yogurt, fruit, paratha and fried egg. I can’t think of a more balanced meal that is so satisfying and savory. I love thalis because you get to taste a little of everything in just the right amounts. This morning thali packs in spice, protein, fruit, carbohydrates, curry and more, but it’s not overwhelming. The oats and yogurt balance out the curries, and the paratha and egg are neutral agents. You can go from savory to sweet or intersperse sweet and savory. Pondicheri’s café atmosphere is casual and hip, and Chef Anita Jaisinghani’s combination of local Texas ingredients and Indian flavors creates a fun experience that will linger on your palate and in your memory.
